Welcome! We’re here to support your local council and community to implement effective road safety strategies using the Safe System approach. This hub encourages knowledge transfer among local councils and community organisations to adopt a Towards Zero vision.
As part of a local community, we can all play a critical role in reducing road trauma. Local councils are well placed to plan, implement and deliver road safety projects relevant to your community. Become involved, road safety is a shared responsibility.
Develop a Local Road Safety Strategic Plan
Start developing your council’s Local Road Safety Strategic Plan. This plan provides a strategic framework and direction for your council to follow to improve road safety in your community.
Safe System approach
Follow the Safe System approach to embed the four safety focus areas into your Local Road Safety Strategic Plan.
Road crash data
Road crash data tells a story about the key road safety issues affecting your community. Interpret and use the data to support your Local Road Safety Strategic Plan.
Learning and resources
Find useful resources to support your road safety planning. These include reports, guidelines, websites, newsletters, campaign and promotion materials, existing road safety initiatives, and sharing of good-practice case studies across councils and community organisations.
